My thoughts on Measure 97 Pre - Election

Oregon Public Broadcasting's article on measure 97 for Oregon stated that measure 97 will increase taxes on sale for businesses' profits that exceed 25 million dollars by 2.5%. The measure would generate a 3 billion dollar fund for other things.

The tax would be funding to bring Oregon standards back up. Currently, Oregon is 7,000 teachers below the amount of average teachers across the nation which could bring up the number of high school graduates. It would also make health care more affordable for the people who need it in Oregon.

Figure 1.1
The people that are supportive of this are mainly smaller company owners tax as it makes large nationwide companies pay their "fair share" of taxes. The larger companies are opposed to this measure as it taxes them. OPB shows this image in figure 1.1 that all rich businesses are donating to stop this measure.

I think that measure 97 should be passed as it really does make large companies pay their fair share. Costco spent $900,000 to combat the measure when it will cost Costco an additional $41,000,000 about 1/10 of their profits.

The reason I chose this article is because this measure could improve something I have, education. Here is a citation, in MLA8, to the source I used to get my facts and form my opinion:
