Journal Entry #4 - Detail on What I'm Reading Today

Hello Readers,

In this journal entry, I will explain in detail of what I'm reading today. Today, I am reading the National History Bee Study Guide. This guide is a short book that explains about subjects and concepts time ago. It helps me learn about history in a fun and engaging way.

This guide also helps me study at the same time for the National History Bee competition. It gives research topics which I can further pursue which helps me learn more about history. The book gives a perspective from a modern point of view to something people used to do centuries ago. A short passage which passes more insight to the reader on this is:

" The Renaissance marked the emergence of Europe from the Middle Ages and its deteriorated culture and economy. Italian trade developed and people acquired the wealth and time to pursue and sponsor interests outside of subsistence, such as the arts and philosophy. Classical antiquity experienced a revival that was accentuated by Constantinople's fall in 1453. Numerous scholars fled to Italy, bringing books, manuscripts and traditional Greek scholarship. The Renaissance spread from its Italian epicenter to the rest of Europe, initiating the Northern and English Renaissances. This period paved the way for the Reformation, a reaction against Catholicism and shift to Protestantism which, in turn, prompted the Catholic Counter-Reformation."

This passage explains about the Renaissance. It hooked me into the book as the Renaissance is something I am interested about. It also includes other topics like the Middle Ages, or World Wars and history about the U.S.A like the Civil War and Lousiana Purchase.
